Invisalign First for Kids

Gentle Guidance for Growing Smiles

Early orthodontic intervention, often called Phase One treatment, is crucial for correcting developmental issues before they become complex problems. But early treatment no longer means your child has to wear bulky metal appliances.

Ehrmantrout Orthodontics is proud to offer Invisalign® First, a clear aligner system designed specifically for children whose smiles are still growing. Dr. Zach Ehrmantrout uses this advanced technology to guide jaw development and make room for incoming permanent teeth, all while keeping your child comfortable and confident.

How Invisalign Can Help Your Child

Invisalign First aligners are custom-designed for younger patients who have a mix of primary (baby) and permanent teeth. They address a broad range of early orthodontic issues, including:

Arch Development

Expanding the jaw to create sufficient space for incoming adult teeth, reducing the likelihood of severe crowding.

Bite Correction

Addressing early signs of overbites, underbites, and crossbites to ensure the jaw grows symmetrically.

Habit Correction

Helping to mitigate the effects of prolonged thumb-sucking or tongue-thrusting.

Why Choose Invisalign First for Kids

The Benefits for Children and Parents

Kid-Friendly Comfort

The smooth SmartTrack® material is gentle on delicate gums and cheeks, eliminating the poking wires and rubbing brackets that can make traditional early appliances uncomfortable for young children.

Better Brushing

Because the aligners are removable, children can brush and floss their teeth normally. This is especially important during childhood, when establishing good oral hygiene habits is critical.

No Food Fights

There are no dietary restrictions with Invisalign First. Your child can continue to enjoy all their favorite healthy snacks and treats simply by removing their aligners before eating.

A Positive Experience

We use a digital iTero® scanner to take a quick, comfortable 3D image of your child's teeth — meaning no gooey, gag-inducing putty impressions!

FAQ About Invisalign for Kids

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Invisalign First?

Invisalign First is a clear aligner system designed specifically for children whose smiles are still growing. It is used during Phase One orthodontic treatment to guide jaw development, create space for incoming permanent teeth, and correct early bite issues.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation by age seven. If Dr. Ehrmantrout determines that early intervention is necessary, Invisalign First is often an excellent option for children between the ages of seven and ten.

Will Invisalign First hurt my child?

Invisalign First aligners are made from smooth, comfortable SmartTrack® material, eliminating the poking wires and rubbing brackets that can make traditional early appliances uncomfortable. While your child may experience mild soreness for a day or two when switching to a new set of aligners, it is generally very well tolerated.

Establishing a routine is key! Encourage your child to wear their aligners at all times, except when eating, drinking anything other than water, or brushing their teeth. The aligners are designed to be comfortable and unobtrusive, so most children adapt to wearing them very quickly.
