The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7, when enough permanent teeth have erupted to identify potential alignment or bite issues early. For teens and adults, there is no age limit — orthodontic treatment is effective at any stage of life. Yes — your first visit to Ehrmantrout Orthodontics is completely complimentary, a $495 value at no cost to you. During your free consultation, Dr. Ehrmantrout will review your smile, take a 3D digital scan, discuss your treatment goals, and walk you through every option available to you. There is no obligation and no pressure. We want you to feel confident and informed before making any decisions.
What treatment options do you offer?
We offer a full range of orthodontic solutions for patients of all ages. Our treatment menu includes Invisalign® clear aligners (for adults, teens, and children through the Invisalign First program), Damon™ self-ligating metal braces, Damon™ Clear ceramic braces, and traditional metal braces. During your consultation, Dr. Ehrmantrout will help you identify which option is the best fit for your smile goals, lifestyle, and budget.
How long does orthodontic treatment typically take?
Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of each individual case. On average, most patients complete treatment in 12 to 24 months. Mild cases — such as minor crowding or spacing — can sometimes be resolved in as little as 6 months. More complex bite corrections may take longer. One of the advantages of the Damon™ Smile system is that it is clinically designed to move teeth more efficiently, which can reduce overall treatment time compared to traditional braces. Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
Modern orthodontic treatment is far more comfortable than most people expect. The Damon™ Smile system uses a self-ligating bracket design that eliminates the elastic ties used in traditional braces, resulting in significantly less friction and pressure on your teeth. Most patients experience mild soreness for the first day or two after getting braces placed or after an adjustment appointment — this is completely normal and typically resolves quickly. Invisalign patients often report even less discomfort, as aligners apply gentle, gradual pressure. Over-the-counter pain relievers and soft foods during the first 48 hours are usually all that is needed.
Do you accept dental insurance, and do you offer payment plans?

What is the difference between Invisalign and braces? Which one is right for me?
Both Invisalign and braces are highly effective orthodontic treatments, but they work differently and suit different lifestyles. Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, removable clear aligners that are virtually invisible when worn. They can be taken out to eat, drink, brush, and floss, making them a popular choice for adults and teens who want a discreet treatment experience. Braces — particularly the Damon™ Smile system we use — are fixed appliances that work continuously, 24 hours a day, and are often the preferred choice for more complex cases or for younger patients who may not have the discipline to wear removable aligners consistently. Dr. Ehrmantrout will evaluate your specific needs and recommend the option that will deliver the best result for your smile.
